Purpose

The employer completes an ROE after a qualifying event. It summarizes the employment period, insurable hours and earnings, the reason for issuing, and relevant separation payments.

Who does what

The employer issues the ROE. Service Canada receives it and makes official Employment Insurance decisions. roe.help only supports preparation and understanding.

Example

employment ends after a seasonal contract, so the employer reviews whether an ROE is required.

Boundary or exception

An ROE is not an EI decision, pay stub, termination letter, or proof that benefits will be paid.
