Ordinary analysis

Review whether employment and insurable earnings stopped and whether the applicable seven-day condition or another guide rule is met.

Use dates, not assumptions

The last day worked, last day paid and the pay periods around the event are more reliable than a label such as layoff or leave.

Example

no work and no insurable earnings for seven consecutive calendar days may be an interruption under the ordinary rule.

Boundary or exception

Real-estate agents, commission salespeople, non-standard work schedules and wage-loss arrangements may have specific rules.
